Trader Psychology — Mind-এর Game

2026-04-27·15 min read
“Trading is 80% psychology and 20% strategy. The hardest enemy you'll face is yourself.” — Mark Minervini

Trend Template, VCP, stop loss, position sizing — সব।

Core Psychological Conflicts

  • Fear vs Greed: Loss-এ fear-এ exit, gain-এ greed-এ hold beyond reason
  • Conviction vs Hope: Plan-এ trade conviction।
  • Ego vs Truth:“আমি right, market wrong” vs market signals follow

FOMO — Fear of Missing Out

Symptom

Why dangerous

Late entry-এ stop দূরে। Risk-reward ভেঙে যায়। Initial setup-এ ১০% potential gain → ৫% remaining gain, কিন্তু stop same। R:R 1:0.7।

Counter

  • Pivot miss = trade gone।

Loss Aversion — Stop Hit-এ Cling

Symptom

Stuck।

Psychology

Loss realize করলে psychologically painful। Paper loss carrying easier। ৫% psychological → ১৫% real।

Counter

  • Hard stop order place করুন — automatic execution
  • Stop hit = setup invalid, no negotiation
  • Reframe: stop hit = correct execution of plan, not failure
  • Quick small loss vs slow big loss — preferable always small

Premature Profit Taking

Symptom

Regret।

Psychology

Loss avoidance instinct। “এখনই sure profit” > “maybe big profit”।

Counter

  • Pre-defined profit targets (tier 1, 2, 3)
  • Scale-out method — partial profit + remaining ride
  • Trailing stop — let winner run, stop tightens
  • Reframe: 2x risk minimum target — math demands holding

Hope vs Conviction

Conviction: Plan অনুযায়ী trade। Stop hit-এ exit, target hit-এ exit। Predefined।
Hope:Plan ভেঙে decision। Stop hit-এ “maybe recover”। Target-এ “maybe more”। Emotional।

অধিকাংশ retail trader hope-এ trade করে। Rule নাই, plan নাই, just “feeling”। Result: random outcome, mostly loss।

Patience — Doing Nothing as Skill

Professional জানে cash = optionality।

  • Forced trades = guaranteed loss over time
  • ৪-৬ A+ trade per year > ৪০ mediocre trades

Drawdown Psychology

Common Drawdown Reactions (avoid)

  • Position size doubling to “recover fast”
  • System abandon, new system try
  • Random trades, no setup
  • Quitting altogether

Correct Response

  • Position size cut by 50%
  • Setup quality bar raise (only A+)
  • Trade frequency reduce
  • Journal review — pattern dekhuna
  • Trust system — drawdown part of game
Minervini-র rule: drawdown ১০%-এ position size cut, ১৫%-এ trade stop, ২০%-এ system review।

Ego — Most Dangerous Enemy

  • “আমার pick correct, market wrong” — never works long-term
  • Best trader-রা constantly “I might be wrong” mentality
“The market doesn't care about your opinions. It only cares about your actions.”

Bigger Picture Mindset

  • Single trade = one data point
  • ৫০ trades = sample meaningful
  • One loss না daily P&L decisions drive — process drives
  • Process correct = long-term outcome inevitable
  • Outcome focused = short-term emotional rollercoaster

Mental Rules

  1. Plan আগে, trade পরে
  2. Stop hit = exit, no exception
  3. Winners run, losers cut quick
  4. FOMO ignore
  5. Boredom-এ trade না
  6. Drawdown-এ size cut
  7. Cash legitimate position
  8. Market signals trump opinions
  9. Process > outcome
  10. Self-blame না, system improve

Daily Mental Routine

1
Pre-market (10 minutes)
Watchlist review। Pivot levels। Stop levels for open positions।
2
During market (passive)
Buy-stops + sell-stops automatic। Constant chart watching = emotional decisions। Limit screen time।
3
Post-market (15 minutes)
EOD review। Open trades health। Tomorrow plan।
4
Weekend deep dive
Journal review। Mistake patterns। Watchlist update।

DSE-Specific Psychological Challenges

  • Limited setups: Long periods boredom — patience extra-tested
  • Tip culture: Friends, brokers, telegram tips — FOMO multiply
  • Operator games: Pump-and-dump emotional manipulation
  • Limited information: Decisions on incomplete data — uncertainty tolerance

Books for Mental Game

  • Mindset Secrets for Winning — Mark Minervini (psychology focused)
  • Trading in the Zone — Mark Douglas (classic)
  • Reminiscences of a Stock Operator — Edwin Lefèvre (timeless wisdom)
  • Thinking Fast and Slow — Daniel Kahneman (cognitive biases)

Technical skill universal — anyone can learn। Psychological skill personal — you must develop।

Daily reminder: Process drives outcomes। আজকের trade win-loss not relevant।
